Athletic Therapy

Certified Athletic Therapists specialize in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal (muscle, bone and joint) injuries and disorders.  You don’t have to be an athlete to see an Athletic Therapist. Athletic Therapists are experienced working with a variety of individuals, whether the injury was sustained during sport, leisure activity, car accident or while at work.  An Athletic Therapist will conduct a thorough and detailed initial assessment to not only determine details related to the injury but to also determine the root cause of the injury so they can formulate a rehabilitation plan to treat the injury as well as apply techniques to minimize re-occurrence of the injury. Athletic Therapists use a variety of rehabilitative techniques, including hands-on techniques (such as a variety of massage techniques and soft tissue mobilizations), and therapeutic modalities (such as ultrasound, or electrical stimulation). The bulk of the rehabilitation program will include an exercise-based rehabilitation to get you stronger and back on your feet doing the activities you want to do weather they be centered around sport, recreational or leisure activity, or work.
